Greeny Suh

“The On Track Youth Program has been a great help
in taking the next big steps in my life.”

I first found out about MSM in the summer of 1999. I had recently moved from Arizona and started to do some volunteer services. Participating in the many programs they had, I successfully completed seventy hours of volunteer services. After completing the volunteer services, they wanted me to come back to enroll in a program called, the On Track Youth Program.
Through this program, I was able to go to various places, including the Boys and Girls club, and engage in many topics that are important in a youth's life. There were many other chances to volunteer once more through this program. Also, I got to participate in community events that were going on in the Korean-American society.
Towards the end of my high school years, I had received the Washington Achievers scholarship and the director of MSM, Mandy Ma, became my hometown mentor. When I started to apply to different colleges, the Youth Program explained and helped me with the FAFSA form. The On Track Youth Program has been a great help to me in taking the next big steps in my life. Currently, I am enrolled at the University of Washington as a freshman and am busy catching up with my college schedule. Ttime and time again, I still go back to MSM.

“Greeny Suh has a delightful and positive personality. Therefore, I take pride in watching her overcome barriers along the way and continue to pursue her dream at the University.”

James An

The On Track program is dedicated to helping youth succeed. As much as MSM can help a youth, it is also up to the youth to help themselves. James An is a perfect example of a youth reaching for the stars.
Last year James attended the Gene Juarez Beauty Academy. He graduated in February 2003 and received his license in cosmetology. James is currently a Hair Stylist Intern at Marco Two Union Square in Seattle.
I asked James a few questions:

Question: How did MSM help you the most?
Answer: MSM provided me with financial assistance by giving me a bus pass, and paying for some of my supplies. They also taught me to have high expectations.
Question: What do you enjoy about your job?
Answer: I like everything from the employer to every detail of the job. It’s everything I want.
Question: A word to the wise?
Answer: Always have high expectations and try your best in whatever you do.
