Limited English Proficient (LEP)

The LEP program assists clients who have limited English skills, on government assistance, little or no previous job training, and are in need of employment. The MSM LEP program provides ESL and support services. MSM started placing LEP clients into the workforce in 1995. MSM placed 61 clients in employment in 2001. LEP clients have obtained and retained some, but not limited to, the following positions in the workforce: assembly worker, beautician, caregiver, daycare provider, and security guard. In addition to the standard LEP services, MSM also offers LEP clients the following, but not limited to, services and assistance: GED preparation and tutoring, keyboarding and basic computer training, immigration/naturalization assistance, translation and interpretation services, group and individual counseling, parent support groups, family management training, low income childcare referral, low income housing referral, individualized advocacy services, environmental awareness education, tobacco and drug education, aging service referral, domestic violence and abuse service referral, developmental and learning disability aid, transportation assistance, and citizenship classes.
