Volunteer
Senior
Services has several opportunities for individuals
to volunteer at the senior
centers and meal
sites, in case
management and information
and assistance, and with special projects. Placements
are based on skills, interests and time availability. University
internships are also available and set up through
the city’s Department of Training and Development to
assure credit and completed requirements. Volunteers can
serve as program planners, activity aides, instructors, dinning
room aides, kitchen aides, receptionists, instructors, special
events assistants, case aides, and information & assistance

ESL Volunteer (My Service
Mind)
Duties of a volunteer include free conversation
with students, assist with writing practice, help students
with
computers,
and encourage students to speak English frequently with volunteer
tutor and each other. Volunteer tutors should speak English
well.

Work
Part-time position (15-25
hrs / wk) as an ESL Instructor.My Service Mind
Teach adults in English as a Second Language, using
curricla based on the ESL Washington State Compentencies.
Prepare
class lessons and conduct classes in accordance with employer's
ESL curriculum policy. Test prospective students to determine
ESL level. Create an open atmosphere which encourages students
to learn. Most students are refugees on government assistance;
teacher must be considerate towards students' background.
Must have at least two years prior experience in working
with ESL students, preferably as an instructor.
Applicants
must have BA / BS and have completed certification course
in teaching ESL. Pay is $10.00 - $15.00 / hour, DOE/DOQ,
+ benefits (medical, dental ins; paid vacation). To apply,
